Gary M. Scurlock, 81, of Iroquois, IL passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.
Gary was born on May 5, 1943 in Monroe, Michigan, the son of James Hugh and Margaret Lucille (Kleinhans) Scurlock and they preceded him in death in addition to three brothers, George, Michael and Hughie; and one sister, Dorothy Ford.
He married Jacqueline Sue Jenkins on July 16, 1984 in Ironton, Ohio and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Tracey (Wayne) Leutwyler of Powell, Ohio; a son, Michael Scurlock of Watseka, IL; five grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Eric and Layla Leutwyler were very special to him, in addition to his loving dog, Baxter Bailey.
Mr. Scurlock was a veteran of the US Navy and served as a boilertender on the U.S.S. Purdy 734 until 1965. He worked as a supervisor in an iron foundry, the Dayton Malleable Iron Company until its closing in 1983. He also worked at foundries in Coshocton, Ohio and St.
